Procedure
An initial telephone consultation gives brief requirements, and any of your questions and problems discussed. You are then provided a detailed description of the procedure, and should you wish to go ahead, a firm cost of the treatment and a small booking fee is is provided and an appointment is made.
The booking fee is payable in advance and is not refundable, but no further obligation exists should you have a change of mind at any time, even on the day of the appointment.
These procedures are not to be taken lightly and I understand that there are many reasons why you may wish to re-consider prior to commencement.
Cosmetic Tattooing
After welcoming you on the day of your appointment, a history form is completed by you, followed by:
- a review of the desired outcomes to ensure clear communication between client and practitioner;
- a baseline digital photograph is taken prior to commencement for comparision as the treatment proceeds;
- as required, treatment areas are drawn for client assessment prior to the introduction of permanent pigmentation;
- further photographic records are taken to ensure client parameters are met;
- now colour selection takes place in a consultative way - at this point the procedure is about to move to the commitment stage, and any uncertainty should bring about the postponement of the procedure.
- a review of risks are discussed, with a reminder of the natural assymetry of the human body will always preclude a "perfect" outcome;
- a hand mirror, and full-length mirror where appropriate, are provided for ongoing mutual assessment of the procedure;
- checking of dimensions and alignment throughout the procedure with the client's comments encouraged;
- all disposable equipment being used and disposed of at the procedure's end in a Health Dept approved sharps container.
At the end of the procedure when the client is satisfied, a photo is taken of the results. In the case of tattooing, Bepanthen antiseptic cream (Benzalkonium Chloride - recommended for babies and cracked nipples) is applied, followed by an ice-ack as a vaso-constrictor to reduce swelling and serous discharge from the treated area. After 10-20 minutes rest, the client is given instructions on after care and prevention of contamination by fingers touching the site.
A return visit is scheduled for after 4-6 weeks - this provides for an after care top-up to fix or implant areas that have not adequately implanted in the tissue.
Tattoo Removal
- A test site is recommended to help you be aware of care and results which are noticeable in 2 weeks.
- The procedure is the same except that no drawing is required; the areas for removal are discussed and photographed.
- The procedure is commenced with areas up to 7cmx7cm at a time, and it is a once-only treatment for any given area. Other areas can be worked on but 2-3 months of healing needs to take place between treatments.
At the end you are advised on aftercare and its importance of keeping the treated area dry to allow to scab to form. 2-3 months later a further treatment can be undertaken.
